Introduction to Pottery: Wheel Throwing & Handbuilding

Beginner friendly lessons: every Saturday for a total of 4 weeks. 10am-1pm, beginning March 28.

You will be exploring both wheel throwing steps and handbuilding techniques with my guidance. At the end of the session, you will have 6-8 completed pieces and a hint of an understanding of which discipline speaks to you the most. Class size of 6 people, and we will be sharing 3 wheels.

Week 1: Getting acquainted + learning the core basics. With a focus on wheel throwing.

You'll learn how to make a cup two ways: on the pottery wheel + the pinch pot way - and you will get to see the similarities and differences between the two processes.


Week 2: Getting in the flow state

Now that you know wheel throwing steps, I can guide you into perfecting your techniques.


Week 3: Finishing Touches. With a focus on handbuilding.
Trimming (how to refine your wheel thrown piece).

Combine techniques.

Bonus Points: Learn how to attach a handle and join pieces together.


Week 4: Finish & Glaze

Glazing your work. You will be glazing your own work! Choosing your colors, brushing or dipping applications.

Introduction à la Poterie: Tournage et Façonnage
Session de 4 semaines pour débutant·e·s

Cours adaptés aux débutants: chaque samedi pendant 4 semaines au total. De 10h à 13h, à partir du 28 mars.

Vous explorerez à la fois les étapes du tournage au tour et les techniques de façonnage à la main sous ma guidance. À la fin de la session, vous aurez réalisé 6 à 8 pièces complètes et aurez une première idée de la discipline qui vous correspond le mieux. Les cours se font en groupes de 6 personnes, et nous partagerons 3 tours.


Semaine 1: Faire connaissance + les bases
On apprend à faire une tasse de deux façons au tour et à la main.


Semaine 2: Entrer dans le flow
Maintenant que tu connais les étapes du tournage, on peaufine.


Semaine 3: Les finitions
Le tournassage.
On peut aussi à combiner les techniques.


Semaine 4: Émaillage
Tu émailles tes pièces!
